Planet Zoo 2 releases on October 13, 2026, and for the first time in the franchise it launches everywhere at once: PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The standard edition costs $49.99, with a $64.99 Deluxe Edition adding six exclusive species.

Release date and platforms
Frontier Developments announced the date on May 28, 2026, alongside the reveal trailer, and opened preorders the same day. The simultaneous console launch is a real shift for the series — the original Planet Zoo was PC-first in 2019 and didn’t reach consoles until 2024.

Standard vs Deluxe: what $15 buys
The Deluxe Edition ($64.99) includes the base game plus the Deluxe Upgrade Pack:
- Six exclusive species: Golden Eagle, Golden Lion Tamarin, Great Hammerhead Shark, Axolotl, Blue and Gold Fusilier, and Longfin Batfish
- Exclusive animal signs (scenery items)
Note the lineup is built to show off the sequel’s two headline systems — the Golden Eagle for the new aviaries, and the hammerhead, fusilier and batfish for aquariums. The Axolotl alone will sell this edition to a certain kind of player.
One accuracy note: some outlets have listed the Deluxe Edition at $69.99. The official figure from Frontier’s own announcements is $64.99.
The preorder bonus
Preordering any edition gets the Bonus Content Pack, delivered at launch:
- Exclusive Toucan Eat Shop and matching signage
- 3 unique animal donation bins
- Tiger Photo Stand-In Wall
It’s decorative content, not gameplay-affecting — nothing here should pressure you into preordering if you’d rather wait for reviews. Frontier hasn’t announced any physical or collector’s edition.
No beta this time
Worth flagging because veterans will remember: the original Planet Zoo ran a preorder beta before its 2019 launch. No equivalent beta, demo or early-access weekend has been announced for Planet Zoo 2. The first hands-on for the public will be launch day, unless something changes at a summer showcase.
Things to know before you buy
